Tennessee man arrested for child abuse, battery after Destin road rage incident

A Tennessee man was arrested in Destin on Monday on charges of child abuse and battery after a road rage incident, according to an arrest report.

The report states that 34-year-old William Goforth possibly got cut off on the road by a driver in a red Toyota truck that was turning east on US Highway 98. The driver was later identified as a juvenile.

Goforth then drove around the Toyota driver and began break-checking, leading to both vehicles stopping on US Highway 98 near Henderson Beach Road, according to the report.

The report states Goforth then exited his truck yelling profane language, hitting the red Toyota driver’s window, and forcibly opening the driver’s truck door.

According to the arrest report, Goforth struck the driver in the left side of his jaw and pulled his left arm and wrist.

The red Toyota driver and his passenger began yelling that they were underaged and Goforth stated in more profound words that he didn’t care, according to the report.

The report states the Toyota driver then reversed his truck, but Goforth continued to follow them in his vehicle and harass them while traveling through multiple parking lots.

The Toyota driver called 911 while still being followed and Goforth eventually left the scene but later drove past while deputies were with the victims, according to the report.

The report states that the victims saw and identified Goforth’s truck and deputies pulled him over.

According to the arrest report, both victims came in at separate times and identified Goforth as the suspect.

Goforth was released from Okaloosa Couty Jail Monday on a $50,000 bond.
