Third person dead following wrong way crash in Palm Beach County

A third person is dead following a head-on collision that occurred in Palm Beach County, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

L J, 24, of Belle Glade, was pronounced dead on Dec. 30 at 2:27 p.m. According to PBSO, the next of kin was notified.

The crash happened in late December at around 2:35 a.m. on US 27 near mile marker 85, PBSO’s crash report says. Reports say a man, identified as Raul Sifonte, was driving a van northbound in southbound lanes on US 27 when he struck a Chevrolet Suburban with four occupants.

Sifonte, 40, and the driver of the suburban, D J, 24 of South Bay were both pronounced dead at the scene, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says.

The two additional passengers in the Suburban, a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman, were taken to St. Mary Medical Center for their injuries. Both sustained serious injuries, the PBSO crash report says.
