We’re not going to call it a major accident, but a car fire — or what was we were told by witnesses was a car fire — is leading to huge delays on I-95 in Boca Raton around 1 p.m.
The care fire call is in the area of Peninsula Corp Drive. The red car, above, was apparently on fire, or someone thought it was on fire. That led to a significant Boca Raton Fire Rescue response. At least one Road Ranger is on the scene, as well. Traffic is being pushed out of the two most left lanes, which is causing a significant bottleneck that seems to span for at least a mile.
The good news: it does not appear that anyone was injured. The bad news: this may go on for a bit and it appears to be raining in that area of I-95, as well. Expect delays to persist.
Your best bet: get off of I-95 wherever you are as you approach Boca Raton. Head south on Jog/Military Trail, and then re-enter I-95 at Palmetto Park Boulevard. Good luck.
