Several lanes were shut down Thursday morning after at least one person was killed in a crash on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach, police said.
The crash happened before 7 a.m. at the intersection with Northeast 172nd Street, North Miami police said on X, formerly Twitter.
The busy stretch is a couple of miles south of the Aventura Mall and in between Miami Gardens Drive and Northeast 163rd Street, which leads to the Golden Glades Interchange to the west.
Helicopter footage from Local 10 showed what appeared to be a covered body next to a pickup truck on a grassy area. A fence was also knocked down.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
