An entrapped driver was freed by firefighters on Sunday evening following a two-vehicle collision in Marion County.

According to Marion County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, in the 13000 block of NE Highway 315 in Fort McCoy.

After receiving multiple 911 calls regarding an accident with “debris all over the roadway,” several MCFR units responded to the scene of the crash.

Shortly before 5:40 p.m., firefighters arrived at the site of the two-vehicle collision and observed that one of the drivers was trapped in the wreckage.

MCFR crews worked carefully to free the driver, who was successfully extricated at 6:12 p.m. The driver was then transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.

One other individual was hurt in the crash, though MCFR did not specify the extent of the injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
