A commercial vehicle carrying pesticide rolled over at a busy intersection in south Marion County this morning, causing delays as emergency responders worked to clear the area.

The Marion County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a commercial vehicle rollover at the intersection of SE 92nd Loop and U.S. Highway 441 on Wednesday morning at around 8:16 a.m.

At the time, multiple 911 callers reported that the vehicle had been carrying pesticide that spilled onto the roadway.

Local crews arrived on the scene at approximately 8:23 am. to find the vehicle on its side. According to MCFR, the occupants had “self extricated” from the vehicle before firefighters arrived.

After securing the vehicle, the MCFR Special Operations HAZMAT was tasked to respond to mitigate the pesticide leak and begin cleanup operations.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol, according to MCFR. The State Warning Point was notified and officials from the Florida Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
