JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — A chemical spill in Jupiter led to one person in the hospital on Friday morning.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) said at around 8:30 a.m., a landscaping truck carrying multiple containers of chemicals crashed into a tree on Military Trail, off Indiantown Road, resulting in a chemical spill and one person being hospitalized.
At the scene, emergency responders said they found the wreck and one person was outside of the truck, on the ground. PBCFR said the injured person met trauma alert criteria and was rushed to a local trauma center for further medical attention.
PBCFR said its Special Operations Units swiftly contained the spilled chemicals, preventing further contamination of the area. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) also responded to the scene to perform final mitigation and cleanup.
The incident scene was handed over to the Jupiter Police Department at around 10:40 a.m., and by 12:30 p.m., the roadway was fully reopened in both directions, allowing traffic to flow normally.
