Twenty-year-old airlifted from serious traffic accident

A 20-year-old man was airlifted to a local emergency room in Bradford County following a serious traffic accident.

Thursday night, a pick-up truck rolled over on the CR100A overpass near mile marker three in Bradford County.

The vehicle rolled over on the bypass and the driver, who sustained serious injuries, was airlifted via helicopter to HCA Florida Starke Emergency Room, according to Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith.

A Shands Care team is also on-site at the emergency room, ready to transfer the 20-year-old patient to UF Health Shands Hospital, if need be, Gordon said.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and a bystander witnessed him laying on the ground, Gordon said.

His condition is currently unknown.

Drivers can expect delays and are urged to use US301 as an alternate route through Starke.
