Two drivers were hospitalized following a crash in Port St. Lucie on Thursday evening.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said at 6:38 p.m., officers responded to a crash on SW California Blvd., just north of SW Grand Reserves Blvd. Upon arrival, it was revealed that a Mini Cooper and Chevrolet Tahoe were involved in a collision.

The 28-year-old driver of the Mini Cooper sustained serious head injuries, and she was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, PSLPD said. The driver of the Tahoe was also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Following an initial investigation, police said the Mini Cooper was driving south on SW California Blvd. approaching the SW Grand Reserves Blvd. intersection. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe was driving northbound on SW California Blvd. approaching the Mini Cooper.

Police said the Mini Cooper left its lane of travel into the on-coming lane and collided with the Tahoe.

Photos taken at the scene show the damage both vehicles sustained. The front driver’s side of the Tahoe is smashed in, the front tire crumpled in the wreckage. The Mini Cooper’s windshield is shattered, and the rear bumper is partially removed.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
