According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 1:03 p.m. a red Dodge Charger was spotted with fully tinted windows driving along Alligator Alley.
The report states that FHP attempted to perform a traffic stop on the car, but the driver fled.
FHP states ran a red light at the intersection of Collier Boulevard and City Gate Boulevard North while aggressively speeding off.
The trooper ended the chase due to heavy traffic.
At 1:18 p.m., FHP alerted the trooped that a red Dodge Charger was involved in a crash along Golden Gate Parkway and 23rd Avenue SW.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office stated that a man and woman were found and confirmed as the two passengers inside the charger. They were identified as RV,46, and JA, 28.
The woman stated their friend, “P” was driving the car, but crashed. Out of fear, the driver fled the scene with Ventura and Alvarado in the car.
P was nowhere to be found.
During a search of the vehicle, the following items were found:
- Drug paraphernalia
- Homey Bourbon-flavored loose-leaf
- Bob Markey cigarette papers
- Zig-Zag rolling papers
- A bag labeled “Bubble Gum Peppers” was found with a leafy green substance (tested positive for marijuana)
- Clear baggie (tested positive for cocaine)
V and A were arrested for possession of cocaine, due to being within reach of the drug.
Both were taken to Physicians Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation. The paid refused treatment. They were taken to the Collier County jail.
