UPDATE: Man dies after shooting near Old Fairfield Drive in Escambia County

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed Wednesday night in Escambia County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The family identified the victim as Walter Lee McQueen-Dukes. The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of John Street off of Old Fairfield Drive.

McQueen-Dukes was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The sheriff’s office says they have no suspect as of right now.

An investigation is ongoing.
