Update on TENS Unit post – involves Rick Scott

Hi All. I got some new information about the TENS units because a lot of people have been emailing/calling me about the post. I’m still right about doctors needing a DME license with AHCA to sell a TENS unit, but there was some stuff about Rick Scott that you should know.

I updated the post by including the FCA position (per their website) on the matter.

If you don’t like the news that you need a license to bill for TENS units don’t shoot the messenger! Insurance companies are always looking for ways to avoid payment and this is happening whether you like it or not.

Many people have emailed me stating that they “heard” this was getting fixed by the Florida Legislature. They are referring to House Bill 1305/ Senate Bill 996 which would have exempted chiropractors from needing a license to bill TENS units. Well our favorite man Gov. Rick Scott vetoed the bill after it passed the House and the Senate.

Rick Scott signed 55 bills into law that day and vetoed a single law – you guessed it – the one that would allow chiropractors to sell TENS units to their patients.

See the letter Rick Scott signed explaining his veto of the law.
