A Florida deputy who was responding to a burglary in progress collided with a train early Monday morning, according to NBC affiliate WPTV.
The collision reportedly occurred at 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of Old Dixie Highway and County Line Road in Jupiter.
According to the news outlet, the railroad gates were already down and the deputy was unable to beat the oncoming train.
Video aboard the train shows the patrol vehicle attempting to inch toward the gates and away from the tracks. The car’s flashing lights can be seen while the train is heard blaring its horn.
Later Monday morning, destruction to the train gate and posts can be seen, following the collision.
The deputy, who works for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, was taken to a nearby hospital with only minor injuries.
It was not made known what kind of train was involved.
WFLA.com has reached out to the sheriff’s office for additional information.
