WATCH: Two teens arrested after crashing stolen car into deputy’s patrol vehicle: HCSO

Deputies apprehended two 17-year-olds after they allegedly stole a car and collided with a deputy’s patrol car in Tampa.

“The actions of these suspects were reckless and incredibly dangerous. They put our deputies and the public’s safety at risk,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) stated that on November 14 at around 2:24 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle burglary report on Lakeview Drive.

As HCSO responded, the two suspects, while fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle, collided with a deputy’s patrol car.

HCSO’s Aviation Section was able to locate the stolen car, and ground units were alerted that the suspects had abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot.

After a short chase, deputies apprehended the 17-year-old suspects.

The Tampa Police Department’s Aviation Section also joined in the search, assisting ground units in the pursuit.
