West Palm Beach police seek driver in deadly hit-and-run

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) is hunting for a driver who struck and killed a 65-year-old man in a hit-and-run on Saturday.

Police said officers received a 911 call at 7:33 p.m. from a caller who saw an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk on the southbound lanes of Broadway Ave. Officers performed life-saving efforts but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The hit-and-run caused southbound Broadway Ave to be closed for several hours.

Through investigative means officers were able to determine that the car was heading southbound on Broadway when it struck the man, identified as L A. Police say A was believed to be crossing the street from east to west, just south of 32 Street.

Detectives were able to find evidence that suggested the vehicle was a black sedan with front-end damage and a shattered windshield.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Homicide Detective David Streigold at 561-855-1608. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).
