Wife allegedly punches and scratches husband during marital spat

A Clermont woman was arrested after allegedly punching and scratching her husband during verbal argument.

Deputies responded to a domestic battery at an undisclosed Clermont residence around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputies met with the victim who advised that he got into an argument with his wife, 41-year-old BJA. During this, A grabbed his face and beard in an aggressive manner several times, leaving scratches on his face. She then punched him with a closed fist in the face, the report said.

The report noted that A and the victim stated they were drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the incident. The deputies tried to interview A, but she was initially belligerent and uncooperative. After advising several times that they were investigating a domestic battery, she began to comply. She admitted to being in a verbal argument with the victim but could not provide any details on the incident, the report said.

One of the deputies observed a scratch on the victim’s face, which corroborated his statement. The report noted they had been married for over 20 years.

A was ultimately arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). The Texas native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
