Sanford police have arrested a woman accused of fatally shooting a man during an altercation in January.
SE J, 34, was arrested Tuesday in connection to the fatal shooting, which occurred Friday, the Sanford Police Department said in a statement. She faces a charge of second-degree murder, the statement reads.
J is accused of fatally shooting B M S, 31, during an altercation between them at an apartment complex, police said. Investigators determined that the two were in a domestic relationship, according to the statement.
J arrest report states officers responded around 12:20 a.m. Friday to the third floor of 4302 Wyndham Crest Blvd., where they observed S lying on the floor in the hallway between two apartments with an apparent gunshot to his abdomen. Officers began performing life-saving measures on S as the Seminole County Fire Department arrived to take him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 a.m., according to the report.
Police made contact with J in her apartment, where the report notes her three children were also. The children were picked up by one of their family members who took them to stay their residence, the report states.
J allegedly gave police consent to search the apartment before almost immediately rescinding it, leading to a search warrant, the report states. A 9mm Taurus G2C and several magazines were found in the home, along with ammunition loose, in boxes and loaded into at least one magazine, police said.
Though J’s interviews with police remain heavily redacted, officers said she was confronted over discrepancies between her statements and footage from a neighbor’s doorbell camera.
The camera reportedly captured S strike J’s face with an open hand and push her out of camera view, what police said was an act of battery, adding that within four minutes Jameson can be seen walking toward a stairwell while on the phone with 911 and walking back toward B, saying, “Baby, please wake up.”
J allegedly told police that she was screaming for help during the altercation, yet investigators said that the footage did not depict dialogue between her and S and instead showed her walking calmly up the stairs behind him and not being chased.
