Woman allegedly strangles boyfriend with bedsheet in Leesburg hotel room

A Mascotte woman was arrested for battery after allegedly wrapping a bedsheet around her boyfriend’s neck to strangle him in a hotel room.

An officer responded to a room at the Deluxe Motel, located as 113 N. 14th St., regarding a disturbance around 11 p.m. Nov. 8, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. While en route, the officer was advised by dispatch that they received a call from a hotel employee who stated two individuals inside room 118 were arguing.

Once at the scene, the officer met with the male victim in the parking lot. He explained that he was at the hotel to meet with 44-year-old S M G. They had been in a romantic relationship for about three years but were not currently together due to relationship issues. They had also lived together as a family for about one year before, the report said.

The victim said that while they were hanging out, G went through his phone and saw he was messaging another woman, the report said. She became upset, struck him with a closed fist and pushed him to the floor. She then approached him holding a bed sheet in her hands and wrapped it around his neck, stating, “I am going to kill you.”

While the bed sheet was around the victim’s neck, G grabbed a handful of his medication and tried to put it in his mouth. He retaliated by biting her finger, causing her to drop the sheet. She grabbed the bed sheet two more times during the altercation and wrapped it around the victim’s neck. Each time, he was unable to breathe and feared for his life, the report said.

The officer observed an estimated 6-inch laceration on the right side of the victim’s neck, two 1-inch lacerations on the top of his forehead and one 4-inch laceration on his left cheek, the report said.

The officer then met with G inside the hotel room. He observed multiple items scattered throughout the room, and it looked like an altercation happened. G stated that she came to the room earlier in the night, and the scattered items on the floor were already there, the report said.

G advised that she was in a verbal dispute with the victim due to relationship issues, but no physical altercation occurred. She refused to write a sworn statement, and no visible signs of injury or marks were seen on her, the report said.

G was ultimately arrested on charge of battery (domestic by strangulation). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000.
