Woman escapes on-fire Tesla after hitting debris on US-19: Florida Highway Patrol

A woman escaped a Tesla that caught fire Thursday after hitting debris on US-19, The Florida Highway Patrol announced.

A Tesla Model Y, driven by a 24-year-old Spring Hill woman was traveling southbound on US-19 around 6:50 a.m. when she hit debris in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then crossed over the median and the northbound lanes of US-19 before stopping at the entrance of Castriota Chevrolet.

FHP said once the car stopped at the entrance of the dealership it caught fire.

The woman was able to escape the vehicle and was unharmed.
