A 62-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital after she was hit Monday morning by a sport utility vehicle at a shopping plaza in The Villages.
The accident occurred at Lake Deaton Plaza at about 9:45 a.m. when the woman was struck by a Ford Edge driven by a 75-year-old man, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was transported by ambulance to UF Health Leesburg Hospital. The 75-year-old driver escaped injury. He was ticketed for careless operation of a motor vehicle.
