Woman injured in shooting at ‘social gathering’; JSO looking for suspect

A woman was injured in a shooting at a social gathering Sunday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said around 5:27 p.m., officers responded to West 30th Street about a person shot.

Police found a woman in her mid-20s shot in the leg.

Police said the initial investigation revealed a person had fired around 20 shots from a handgun, hitting her once.

The suspect left the scene in a silver SUV, which has now been found, JSO said. However, police are still looking for the suspect.

The woman was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
