First responders were at the scene of a deadly crash involving two tractor-trailers and another vehicle along Florida’s Turnpike Monday afternoon.
According to FL511, the southbound lanes of the toll road were closed near the Golden Glades interchange in Miami Gardens while authorities investigated.
The crash happened at around 12:25 p.m., according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatch data. Lt. A C, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson, said a “white tractor-trailer collided into a black Nissan sedan and then another tractor-trailer.”
C said a passenger in one of the big rigs, a woman, was ejected from the cab and died at the scene. The Nissan driver was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive, he said.
Two lanes of the highway later reopened as troopers continued their investigation, C said.
