A woman was killed in a house fire in High Springs.

Firefighters got to the home right outside of the historical district around 10 a.m.

They found smoke billowing out of the roof, and say a woman and her dog were trapped inside.

They found the dog inside alive, but found the woman dead shortly after.

The fire was put out within thirty minutes.

High Springs Fire Rescue officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
