Investigators say the 29-year-old woman was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of the interstate near the U.S. 301 exit at about 8:30 p.m. when she was hit by a sedan heading south.
The pedestrian died at the scene. The 20-year-old driver and his 19-year-old passenger, both from Sarasota, were not injured.
