A Leesburg woman was arrested after allegedly punching a business employee in the face for not giving her a ride and telling her to leave.
An officer responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg business around 8:45 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old J Js, was sitting on a bench across from the business.
One officer found J while another went to meet with the female victim who stated she was in her office when she saw J in the lobby. She asked J if she needed help, and J asked for a ride. The victim told her that she could not give her a ride and that she needed to leave the property, the report said.
J then struck the victim in the face before leaving the business. The victim was unsure on which side of her face she was struck, but the left side of her face hurt with visible redness. She denied medical attention, the report said.
The victim had footage of the incident which showed J coming into the business and making contact with her. The video then showed Jones striking the victim in the face with a closed fist before leaving, the report said.
The officer with J subsequently detained her in handcuffs and placed her under arrest. A criminal history check revealed she had multiple convictions for battery, the report said.
J was charged with battery (second or subsequent offense) and transported to Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
