Woman survived crash in Deerfield Beach, killed in second crash after getting out of car.

A car crash at an intersection in Deerfield Beach resulted in a second crash, killing the woman who got out of her car after the first crash.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the Feb. 24 crash as of Monday. No one has been charged in the woman’s death.

Shortly before midnight in the 3800 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard, a woman driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze hit a 2019 Ford Flex as the Ford drove into the intersection while attempting to turn left, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Chevrolet was disabled in the east lanes when the driver of a 2020 Toyota Camry crashed into the Chevrolet and then the woman who was outside of her car, the Sheriff’s Office said. She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and died three days later.

John C. Hoover, 53, of Boca Raton, who was driving the Toyota, and the Ford driver both stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the Sheriff’s Office said. The woman’s identity is being withheld until her relatives have been notified of her death.

The Sheriff’s Office did not say whether the other drivers were injured.
