A worker at Miami International Airport was hospitalized after they were accidentally stuck by a forklift Tuesday morning.
Officials at MIA initially said the incident involved a LATAM Cargo employee, but LATAM Cargo said in a statement that the victim is an employee of Aviation Main Services (AMS).
Officials with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department also said the incident did not happen near a passenger gate.
A NBC6 camera captured the employee being airlifted to a local hospital.
The employee’s identity and condition were unknown.
In a statement, LATAM Cargo said: “LATAM Cargo Group confirms that an incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, September 3, on the cargo ramp at Miami International Airport, involving an employee of Aviation Main Services (AMS). LATAM Cargo Group is fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation and is actively working to clarify the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. At this moment, LATAM Cargo Group’s priority is the well-being and swift recovery of the injured person. The company is committed to the safety of everyone working in its facilities.”
