The Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) wants to find the driver of a white sedan that struck and killed a young bicyclist in North Lauderdale early Thursday morning.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver was heading north on North State Road 7 around 1 a.m. when the sedan veered into the bike lane and collided with the young rider. The driver allegedly kept going, before making a U-turn and driving past the bicyclist while heading the other way.
The boy was there for an hour before his body was discovered, BCSO indicated. He was discovered after his family grew worried that he had not made it home from work yet, the report stated.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release any information about the bicyclist, other than to say he was a juvenile boy.
Anyone with information on the white sedan, which is described as a possibly older model with tinted windows, or the wreck is asked to call the BCSO Homicide Unit at 854-321-4845 or to submit a tip through the SaferWatch App. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
