A deadly crash on I-275 claimed the life of a Zephyrhills woman on Monday afternoon.
What we know:
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old woman from Zephyrhills was traveling southbound on I-275 shortly before 12:50 p.m.
Troopers say she lost control of her vehicle near Waters Avenue, entered the outside shoulder and collided with a Dodge Dart that had been abandoned on the right shoulder of the interstate.
Post-impact, the abandoned vehicle was propelled across the highway before coming to a stop along the inside shoulder while the SUV overturned and came to a final rest along the outside shoulder of I-275, according to FHP.
The Zephyrhills woman was taken to an area hospital where she died.
What we don’t know:
Troopers said it is unclear why the woman lost control of her vehicle.
It is also unknown why the Dodge Dart was abandoned on the side of the road.
FHP also did not mention how the deadly crash impacted traffic.
