1 dead, 1 with critical injuries after motorcycles crash on I-75 in Fort Myers

One person is dead and another sustained serious injuries after a crash on I-75 southbound in Fort Myers.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Troopers say two motorcyclists were traveling south at a high rate of speed before losing control of their vehicles and colliding with the travel lanes.

Both drivers were reportedly ejected from the motorcycles before coming to rest in the grass several hundred feet from the area of the collision.

According to reports, a 21-year-old male driver from Cape Coral was pronounced dead on the scene.

The other driver was said to be an 18-year-old male from Cape Coral who was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
