1 dead after sedan collides into semi-truck at Alico Road exit ramp on I-75S

The Florida Highway Patrol is responding to a deadly crash that occurred on the Alico Road exit ramp on I-75 South at MM-127.

According to FHP, the crash was reported at around 3:49 a.m. on Friday when a sedan rear-ended a semi-truck.

FHP reports that a gold Kia sedan containing two women from Lehigh Acres were traveling south on I-75 on the Alico Road exit 128 ramp on the outside lane.

A semi-truck was parked on the same exit ramp outside the paved shoulder.

The sedan then traveled off the roadway, entering the shoulder before colliding with the rear left portion of the semi-truck.

The collision killed the 21-year-old female passenger.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The exit ramp has reopened at 8:06 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
