One person was rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning, where they died after a vehicle drove into a canal off Alligator Alley, authorities confirmed.
According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane, the crash occurred on Interstate 75 near mile marker 45.
Kane said three people were inside the vehicle, two of whom were able to self-extricate.
He said divers pulled the third victim from the vehicle, who was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition. That victim later died at the hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
No other details were immediately released.
