1 dead when Ford Mustang overturns, erupts in flames on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County

A 32-year-old Orlando man was killed and two others were seriously injured late Monday in a fiery rollover crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County, traffic officials said.

The deadly wreck happened around 11:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike at the ramp to State Road 429.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 34-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2024 Ford Mustang south on the Turnpike exit ramp when he lost control of the car, which left the roadway and crashed into a sign post.

The Mustang traveled into the median, struck several trees and overturned multiple times before catching fire, the FHP said.

Both Orlando men, neither of whom was wearing a seat belt, were ejected from the car, according to an FHP crash report.

The 32-year-old passenger was taken to AdventHealth Winter Garden and was pronounced dead, troopers said.

The driver and a back-seat passenger, a 24-year-old Orlando woman, were hospitalized with serious injuries, the crash report stated.

Video from traffic cameras showed smoke billowing from the crash site.
