1 injured, dog dead after house fire erupts in Jamaica Bay community in south Fort Myers

A man was injured, and a dog died after a fire ignited in the south Fort Myers area.

According to South Trail Fire and Rescue, a manufactured home became fully engulfed in flames in the Jamaica Bay community along Dron Court.

Two people and the dog were inside the home when the fire started.

Fire officials said the man was transported to the hospital. Crews found the dog deceased during fire operations.

South Trail Fire and Rescue said the Red Cross has been called to assist the homeowner.

Along with South Trail Fire and Rescue, the San Carlos Park and Iona McGregor fire crews were also on the scene.

State Fire Marshal and South Trail Fire investigators are working to find the fire’s cause and origin.
