2 people visiting Florida killed in head-on crash on SR-60 near Lake Wales

Two people were killed in a head-on crash on State Road 60 Tuesday afternoon.

It happened near River Ranch Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Chevy Silverado was traveling westbound on SR-60 near the Lake Kissimmee south boat ramp when it crossed the center lanes and hit a Honda CRV head-on. A third vehicle then hit the CRV, FHP said.

The driver and a passenger in the CRV were killed. FHP identified them as a man and a woman from Madison, Wisconsin. Another person in the CRV was seriously injured.

The roadway was closed for hours but has since reopened.
