A child and a driver were transported to the hospital after they drove off Interstate 595 in Dania Beach.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units responded to the scene near 3201 SW 26th St., Monday afternoon.
“[Truck] fell off the highway, going to be a vehicle that fell off I-595,” said a dispatcher over Broadcastify police scanner.
7Skyforce hovered above the scene, where the pickup truck involved landed on its roof.
FLFR said the driver of the Ford F-150 was heading eastbound toward east of I-595 before it drove off highway, landing on its roof.
“We do have one vehicle that fell off I-595. It is going to be on its roof. I’m going to advise on future hazards and extrication,” said a dispatcher.
Traffic was delayed and backed up as crews worked to get the victims out of the vehicle and to safety.
“No hazards, no entrapment. We need one rescue at the time,” said a dispatcher.
Paramedics with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported the driver and child to Broward Health Medical Center. The driver was seen being pushed in a wheelchair with a neck brace along with the child, on a stretcher with a neck brace as well.
According to BSFR, the driver suffered serious injuries, while the child was transported as a precaution.
Crews back at the crash were able to flip the vehicle upright and tow it away.
Road rangers previously had two lanes blocked off but have since reopened them.
