21-year-old dies after argument in Normandy Boulevard business parking lot leads to gunfire

A 21-year-old man was driven to a hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound after an argument in a business parking lot on Normandy Boulevard led to gunfire, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. The man, identified as Anthony D. Lewis, died at the hospital.

According to police, shots were fired around 1:10 a.m. during an argument in the parking lot of Charlie’s Liquor and Hookah Lounge. It’s unclear how many people were shooting, but more than 100 people were there at the time, police said.

The reason for the argument is still under investigation, and it’s unclear if the man who was shot knew the shooters, police said.

Witnesses drove the wounded man to the hospital before police arrived.

Nearby businesses were also struck by the gunfire, JSO said.

Security guards work at the lounge but they did not return fire and were not involved in the shooting, police said.
