More than 250 residents were evacuated on Tuesday after an electrical fire broke out in a downtown St. Petersburg apartment building, according to fire officials.

The fire happened at the Lutheran Apartments at 550 1st Avenue S.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said they found that the building’s electrical room had caught fire and spread to the second floor leaving the 16-story structure without water or power.
