4 teens injured after car crashes into tree in Escambia County

Four teens were injured after a vehicle lost control and collided with a tree in Escambia County on Saturday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Fannie Road, just south of Oil Company Road, at around 9:49 p.m.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that a red 2010 Dodge Charger, driven by a 16-year-old girl from Alabama, lost control and collided with a guardrail. Subsequently, the Charger bounced off the guardrail and traveled southbound in the northbound lane of Fannie Road until it collided with a tree.

The 16-year-old driver was taken to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital by ambulance. Two 16-year-old Alabama boys and a 15-year-old boy from Century were also injured.

Florida Highway Patrol did not specify where each of the three teens were sitting but states that the front right passenger and rear left passenger were taken by helicopter to Ascension Sacred Heart hospital.

The one other passenger remained on scene and was turned over to their parent, a release states.

Florida Highway Patrol says all four teens were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The 16-year-old driver was cited for not having a driver’s license and driving carelessly.

The front passenger was also cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
