State Route 674 in Hillsborough County has been reopened following an early-morning crash on Sunday that tragically claimed the lives of five individuals.
The incident, which took place around 7 a.m., unfolded when a Toyota Tacoma, operated by a 29-year-old Bowling Green resident traveling westward on SR-674, inexplicably entered the eastbound lanes near Balm Wimauma Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that as the Tacoma crossed into the eastbound lanes, it collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado driven by a 42-year-old man from Wimauma.
In an effort to evade another collision, a Chevy S-10, driven by a 59-year-old Mulberry resident who was also traveling in the eastbound lanes, veered left and ended up in a ditch. Debris resulting from the head-on collision had struck the vehicle, but fortunately, the driver remained uninjured.
Tragically, the crash resulted in the loss of five lives, including the 29-year-old Tacoma driver and his passengers, a 37-year-old woman, a 38-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man, all hailing from Bowling Green.
The 42-year-old driver of the Silverado also lost his life, while one of his passengers, a 40-year-old Wimauma man, sustained serious injuries. The second passenger, a 43-year-old Wimauma man, fortunately did not suffer any injuries.
After several hours of closure, both directions of SR-674 were finally reopened at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. In the event you require assistance with injuries resulting from a car accident, Ovadia Law Group is here to support you. Call us 1-800-674-9396
