Four people were killed, including a 7-year-old boy, and 6 were hospitalized in an overnight crash in Indian River County Monday.

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95.

A 37-year-old woman from Miami was driving a Toyota Camry behind a Suzuki Vitara, when she struck it.

Both of the vehicles were then disabled in the middle of the road.

A 40-year-old woman driving a Dodge Journey northbound approached the scene.

The Dodge hit the Suzuki, making it perpendicular to the road.

The Camry driver and the Suzuki driver — a 40-year-old man, also from Miami — got out to help all of the people in the Dodge. There were six occupants in total, including four kids.

While they were in the road, a Freightliner semi was traveling northbound. It hit the left side of the Dodge, causing it to go northeast toward the shoulder.

One occupant was ejected.

As the Freightliner passed through the crash, it hit the drivers of the Camry and Suzuki, killing them.

The semi, driven by a 63-year-old man from Miami, ended up in the median.

A Chrysler approached the crash scene. It swerved but still hit the Toyota Camry. The occupants are a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada. They were also hospitalized.

The 7-year-old boy who died and the other four hospitalized were all in the Dodge.

They are all from Palm Bay, including a 42-year-old man, a 5-year-old boy, a 2-month-old baby boy and a 9-year-old girl in stable condition at St. Mary’s Hospital.
