WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An 81-year-old woman riding a bike died from her injuries after being struck by a truck that was exiting a McDonald’s parking lot in West Palm Beach.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) crash report states the crash occurred on April 19 at 2:12 p.m. A bicyclist, identified as Joan Besson, was riding on the sidewalk approaching the McDonald’s exit on Okeechobee Boulevard.
As Besson on her bicycle began to enter the exit of McDonald’s, she rode into the path of a 2019 Kenworth Truck causing a violent collision between the two.
The report says Joan overturned on her bicycle striking the roadway and the rear tires of the truck drove over the bicyclist and her bicycle. The truck continued to head eastbound until it came to a stop
Joan was taken to the hospital due to the injuries she sustained during the collision, the report reads.
The truck driver didn’t sustain any injuries.
On May 4, Jonan died from the injuries she sustained during the collision.
