82-year-old Alabama woman killed in Santa Rosa County crash

An 82-year-old Alabama woman was killed in a crash Monday in Santa Rosa County.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. on State Road 87 — a half mile south of the Alabama state line.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Castleberry, Alabama woman was exiting the parking lot of Sanhandle Lotto store onto State Road 87 in her car. Meanwhile, a 61-year-old Milton man was driving southbound on State Road 87 in a tractor-trailer.

She failed to see his tractor-trailer and pulled into the roadway, according to FHP. The front of the tractor-trailer struck the left side of her vehicle, causing it to spin counterclockwise into the grass shoulder.

While the woman was pronounced dead, the Milton man did not suffer any injuries.

No further details have been released.
