82-year-old Tarpon Springs woman killed in crash on US-19

An 82-year-old Tarpon Springs woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on US-19 Monday evening, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said at 7:31 p.m., the woman was heading south on the highway when she tried to make a left turn onto Colonial Boulevard.

However, as she turned, she got into the path of a BMW driven by a 17-year-old boy from Palm Harbor.

Troopers said the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment but died of her injuries.

The teenager was also hospitalized for minor injuries.
