AMTRAK train strikes, kills man walking on tracks in Osceola County

A man in the Kissimmee area was killed after an AMTRAK train struck him Saturday night.

The crash happened in the area of Michigan Avenue near Garden Street just after 7 p.m. That’s just south of Osceola Parkway.

A Florida Highway Patrol news release says a man was walking north along the track just west of Michigan Avenue.

The train conductor pulled the emergency brake but was unable to get the train to stop in time. Troopers say the man died at the scene.

No one on the train was hurt.

His identity has not been released, and the crash is still under investigation.
