Police ID 72-year-old pedestrian fatally struck by Lexus in Lady Lake

A 72-year-old man was killed Monday morning after he was struck by a Lexus while attempting to cross U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.

The Lady Lake Police Department identified the victim as E. According to a preliminary investigation, E was attempting to cross the highway outside of a designated crosswalk near the intersection of Longview Avenue when the crash occurred.

Police say a 2016 silver Lexus E350, driven by 63-year-old Larry Wilson of Lady Lake, was traveling in the inside northbound lane when it struck E.

E sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Wilson was not injured, remained at the scene, and has been cooperative with investigating officers, according to the police report.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under active investigation by the Lady Lake Police Department.
