A driver was arrested after troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol say he fled a traffic stop, resulting in a PIT maneuver and crash.

FHP says that troopers tried to stop a speeding vehicle on SR-82 and Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers Thursday night.

Troopers say the suspect drove away, heading west on SR-82. Troopers performed a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevard and SR-82. The vehicle crashed and landed on its side.

The driver, later identified as 18-year-old H, was arrested. FHP says that his blood alcohol level was .158.

H faces charges of fleeing and eluding and DUI. FHP says he is still in the hospital and being evaluated after the crash.
