Bicyclist dies after being struck in Osceola County crosswalk, FHP says

A man riding a bike near Kissimmee was struck by a pickup truck Thursday night and later died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Bill Beck Boulevard, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the bicyclist — identified as a 63-year-old St. Cloud man — was traveling from south to north across East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the front of the truck.

The pickup — which was being driven westbound on East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway by a 56-year-old Kissimmee man — had a green traffic light when the crash happened, the report states.

The St. Cloud man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to FHP.

The Kissimmee man was not injured and remained at the scene, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
