Body found in burned car at Clearwater Beach hotel

CLEARWATER — Police discovered a body in a car that burned in the early morning of May 1 at a Clearwater hotel in what investigators believe was a suicide.

Police officers and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a car fire at the Edge Hotel, 505 S. Gulfview Blvd., about 2:30 a.m. After firefighters put out the fire, the victim was found inside.

Police said it appears an adult male not from this area set the car on fire and then shot himself.
