BSO: Man found dead after barricading himself inside Tamarac home

The Broward Sheriff’s Office was outside a home in Tamarac for hours overnight after they said an armed man barricaded himself inside the house.

Just before 8 a.m. Friday, BSO spokesman Carey Codd confirmed that deputies found the man, C R, 34, dead inside the house from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No one else was found inside the home in the 5000 block of Northwest 50th Street, authorities confirmed.

Earlier in the morning, a SWAT vehicle and other equipment could be seen outside the house.

Neighbor J A told Local 10′s H Y that this type of scene is unusual in the senior citizen community, but a similar scene played out just days ago.

“And it’s been happening because a couple of days ago, this also was the same type of scene — all closed off like this,” he said.

Sky 10 captured some damage to the home’s window and deputies searching inside the residenc.

A said he heard a few loud gunshots Thursday night.

“Last night, we heard the gunshots and it was very close to here,” he said.

Authorities did not immediately disclose why R had barricaded himself inside the home.
